Consortium Worldhotels adds record 73 hotels in 2010

FRANKFURT Sales and marketing consortium Worldhotels added a record 73 properties in 2010, increasing its membership portfolio by approximately 20,000 guestrooms.

It marks a record year for Worldhotels in terms of membership additions, an increase of 35% compared to its growth rate in 2009. The new additions, many of which are in new destinations, bring the total number of the group’s affiliate hotels to more than 450 in 65 countries. Worldhotels aims to add a further 80 properties worldwide in 2011.

“2010 was an incredibly successful year for Worldhotels,” says Ingo Gürges, vice president of development of Worldhotels. “We see several reasons for this demand. Certainly, independent hotels are increasingly popular with travelers, as trends show that guests want a unique, authentic experience that standardized chain hotels can rarely offer. Such growing demand results in independent hotels needing a strong partner, which can provide them with a globalized approach to sales, marketing, distribution and individual support, as well as future-proof technology systems on all levels.”

Among the latest additions to the Worldhotels portfolio are Morrison Hotel in Dublin, The K Hotel in Bahrain, Sunset Marquis and Villas in Los Angeles and Beacon Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Worldhotels ranks as the eighth largest hotel sales and marketing consortium, according to the 2010 edition of HOTELS’ 325, the annual listing of the world’s largest hotel groups.
