W Los Angeles – Westwood’s WET pool deck this winter for the third straight year will be transformed into the CHILL ice rink. Why not, the space which was generating no revenue during the winer has now brought in more than US$250,000 in corporate and holiday parties.
And not one to pass up a good partnership opportunity, Starwood and the W Los Angeles – Westwood are teaming up with Z Gallerie to provide modern décor. The space will also feature signature food and cocktails from The Ice Bar, a skate-up E-WOW cabana and special performances by BH Skating Cabaret Theater. To top off the program, the hotel will offer an “Ice Skate, You Skate, We All Skate” room package.
“We’ve created a perfect backdrop for corporate events, holiday parties, anniversary and birthday celebrations, family outings and even first dates,” says General Manager Ren Hirose. “CHILL has also become a popular activity with our neighboring communities. Each year, we intend to provide a different and unique experience for guests and a place for the community to gather. CHILL will be an annual tradition at W Los Angeles – Westwood for seasons to come.”
The 1,600 sq. ft. hybrid ice skating rink and a rink-side lounge will be outfitted with chic mirrors, white deer heads, handmade rugs and set amidst a backdrop of bright lights, fanciful candlelit votives and snowfall every hour.
The Backyard’s “Ice Bar” will serve winter cocktails such as Sugar & Spice + Everything Nice or BY’s Secret Nog. Bites from Executive Chef Dakota Weiss will include winter squash chowder with spiced maple syrup; venison sliders with smoked juniper berries; sugarplum tarts; and vanilla bean baked apples with peanut butter crème anglais. In addition, a children’s design station will be used for holiday gingerbread cookie decorating.
Starting at US$299, the overnight package includes a room, two tickets to CHILL with a private cabana, two winter cocktails and Bliss’ Super Minty Soap & Scrub.
