California’s Hotel Maya latest independent to affiliate with DoubleTree

LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA The 194-key Hotel Maya in Long Beach has added the DoubleTree Hotels flag, keeping its name and distinctive Latin American design aesthetic.

The hotel is owned and operated by Queensbay Hotel LLC, under a franchise agreement with Hilton Worldwide.

“The inspiring design, premier location and refreshing atmosphere developed at The Hotel Maya, a DoubleTree Hotel, makes this hotel an outstanding addition to our 240 locations around the world,” says Rob Palleschi, global head of DoubleTree Hotels. “Couples and families will appreciate the casual and playful feel of the hotel, along with the great entertainment and dining options available in the immediate area. Business travelers will favor the hotel’s proximity to several corporate headquarters and commercial hubs at the World Trade Center and Port of Long Beach, along with convenient access to three major gateway airports. With a great new DoubleTree and Hilton Worldwide affiliation, this hotel is poised to become one of Southern California’s most sought-after hotel destinations.”

Hotel Maya features bold color schemes complemented with earthy, organic furnishings and finishes, as well as private balconies that feature bay and garden views. Fuego, helmed by award-winning Executive Chef Victor Juarez, offers coastal cuisines of Mexico and Latin America. The Salon de Reyes ballroom, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean and downtown Long Beach, has capacity for up to 400 guests. The hotel’s outdoor wedding pavilion includes fire pits and a tropical waterfall.

Hilton’s DoubleTree brand is increasingly pursuing a model of affiliating with unique independent properties, allowing the hotels to maintain their personality and décor while further establishing DoubleTree as an upscale brand where leisure and business travel can comingle comfortably. Other prominent examples include The Wit in Chicago and The Curtis in Denver.

“The Hotel Maya conversion to a DoubleTree will mutually benefit our business and our guests, through our new affiliation to a well-respected worldwide hotel brand, support for the powerful, Hilton Worldwide sales and marketing infrastructure, and being able to offer guests the benefits of the esteemed Hilton HHonors guest reward program,” says Hotel Maya GM Kristi Allen.
