‘Budget boutique’ Peppermint Hotels brand opens first property, in Gurgaon

GURGAON, INDIA Peppermint Hotels, a New Delhi-based group that offers creatively designed hotels at value price-points, has opened its first hotel, in Gurgaon.

Peppermint Gurgaon has 46 guestrooms, theme restaurants, all-day dining, bars, fully equipped banquets and conference facilities, retail areas, state-of-the-art business centers, gymnasiums, wellness facilities, swimming pools and play areas for children.

The rooms at all Peppermint Hotels are equipped with amenities unusual for the economy hotel segment, like LED reading lights, LCD TVs, DVD players, iPod docks, wireless and wired Internet, rain showers, hair driers, shaving mirrors, feather pillows and custom-designed Mint Box beds. All of this is complemented by customized Ally Matthan bath and shower products with the fresh aroma of peppermint and lavender. The brand also offers a 24-hour concierge service and a loyalty program, MintPoint.

“We have created a budget boutique hotel, and our well-thought-out facilities and services at value pricing provide a unique proposition to both business and leisure travelers alike,” says Arjun Baljee, founder and director of Peppermint Hotels.

Peppermint has tied up with Wonderline to create unique signature restaurants and hotel bars like, Mingsingh, the hotel’s own take on Indian-Chinese food; Crave, serving fresh hand-carved sandwiches, soups, desserts and cakes; Aiyayyo, which serves food in a modern quick-service environment; Club, which offers modern Punjabi cooking, cooked in healthy olive oil, without compromising the taste; and Eat Etc , the hotel’s all-day dining concept.

The Peppermint Hotels model is dynamic. While the hotel will offer the same service and product promises across its portfolio, there will be suitable design changes to cater to the needs of the local micro-market, the company says.

Peppermint has plans to launch nine hotels in other cities across India in the near future. Cities targeted for expansion include Baroda, Kumarakom, Pune, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Bangalore (two), Goa and Raipur.
