Africa’s first Ramada Encore hotel to open in Morocco

TANGIER Wyndham Hotel Group is bringing its Ramada Encore brand to Africa. Expected to open in 2012, the 195-key Ramada Encore Tangier is currently under construction and will be located in Tangier City Center, a new commercial district steps from the beach.

The project is being developed by Pearl One, a fully-owned subsidiary of Taameer Real Estate Investment Co., Kuwait. The hotel will be Taameer’s second in Morocco, joining the 133-key Ramada Fes.

“The Moroccan economy is one of the most dynamic in North Africa, and we are delighted to be working with Taameer on the introduction of the Ramada Encore concept in this region,” says Michael Poynter, senior vice president and managing director for Wyndham in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. “This new hotel will act as a great example of the quality and value of the Ramada Encore offering, creating a stylish and affordable base for business and leisure travelers alike.”

The property will feature The Hub—a signature offering of all Ramada Encore properties that incorporates a restaurant, lounge area and bar—as well as two meeting rooms, a large function room and a swimming pool.

Ramada Encore is a tier of the Ramada brand that targets business and leisure travelers looking for a value midscale hotel stay. “We are very excited to bring Ramada Encore to Morocco, and indeed to Africa, for the first time in Tangier,” says Taameer CEO Fawaz Al Bader. “The global reach and recognition of the Ramada brand is a strong endorsement of Tangier’s current expansion and future growth, and its modern styling reflects the ambitions of the city, country and the region.”
