The gift of holiday wonder

Whether you manage a city or resort property, most would agree the bar is raised during the holiday season. Room and dining reservations, as well as airline tickets, are booked anywhere from six months to a year out. Rates are noticeably higher during peak periods, but more importantly, so are the guest expectations.

This is the time of year everyone looks forward to — spending quality time with family and friends, celebrating a year of hard work and reveling in holiday cheer and memorable experiences.

As hoteliers, it’s our responsibility to not just meet but exceed these expectations — and create unforgettable magic to encourage and compel guests to rebook for the following year. How do you create this type of magic? It’s all about keeping guests engaged and entertained. A little dose of incredible talent never hurts either.

On Lana’i, our festive season is chock-full of a diverse range of distinct activities — from culture, arts and culinary to adventure and family-driven offerings, there is something for everyone. Among the highlights is the entertainment component. This year, we are honored to partner with accomplished musician Brenna Whitaker and her Little Big Band to headline the holiday events at both Manele Bay and The Lodge at Koele.

Whitaker is known as the go-to girl in Hollywood for exclusive, private events and has performed at countless star-studded occasions and weddings. She is bringing the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles to the sandy shores of Lana’i for the holidays with not just one performance, but daily entertainment for our guests in various locations around the island. Visitors can bask in the idyllic Hawaiian setting during the day, partaking in beach activities, Hawaiian-themed cooking, mixology classes and guided hikes, then surrender to a touch of old Hollywood-style glamour in the evenings with Brenna’s jazz performances. From sunrise to sunset, visitors are engaged.

Our goal in the industry is to provide exclusive, special experiences year after year, visit after visit and raise the bar every year for the many, many returning guests. Brenna, this year — along with the multitude of innovative offerings — will guarantee the magic.

There is less than one month to go before the festive season has officially unwrapped itself. Your biggest gift to your guests is the gift of holiday wonder. Dazzle, delight and, most importantly, exceed your guests’ expectations with unforgettable events — whether it be one or 10 offerings, create those memorable moments during the holiday season.
