Is brushing your teeth bad for you?

Is brushing your teeth bad for you?

Well, it depends on what you are brushing your teeth with. There is a lot of press on toxic toothpaste and considering the cheap content in most hotel amenities, we are adding to that. Dangerous ingredients like glycerine, sodium lauryl sulfate, sorbitol, aspartame, fluoride and triclosan are very likely to be in the toothpaste that you offer guests at your hotel.

For example, triclosan is highly toxic and causes cancer. Researchers at Virgina Tech found that triclosan when mixed with the chlorine in tap water forms chloroform. Every time you brush your teeth with toxic toothpaste and tap water, you are creating a highly toxic chemical reaction directly in your mouth.

Fluoride was just recently classified as one of the 11 neurotoxins that is believed to be causing not just lower IQ scores, but also attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and autism spectrum disorder. Sodium fluoride is the main ingredient in toothpaste and rat poison.

My children and I use natural toothpaste. There is no way that I will feed my small ones crude oil, rat poison and other cancer causing toxins twice a day when there are so many natural alternatives. If you are serious about wellness in your hotel and spa, think twice about the toothpaste that you offer your guests and consider providing natural alternatives upon request.
