In my last blog post, I talked about traveling with kids as we all start to make our summer travel plans. In a similar vein, a growing number of singles, couples and families are also traveling with their pets rather than relegating them to a local kennel.
In fact, according to a TravelHorizons survey, more than 49% of U.S. adult leisure travelers consider their pet to be part of the family, and 18% of them usually take their pets with them when they travel.
At Trump Hotel Collection, we?re finding a growing number of guests bringing their small furry family members with them. Among the special amenities offered to this unique and adorable market segment through our Trump Pets program are the following:
- Luxurious accommodations in a plush pet bed
- In-room dining menus for pets offering gourmet treats
- A water bowl and fresh bottled water
- Specially selected toys
- And for owners, a map of the city highlighting fun outdoor dog-friendly parks
According to one recent report, Americans spent US$50 billion on their pets in 2011 ? an all-time high. The largest jump came from pet services, including grooming, boarding and, yes, hotel services. If you haven?t entertained this market segment to date, it might be worth considering.
Are you doing anything special for your four-legged guests? I?d love to know.
