Historically, in-room coffee has hardly been something to inspire guests to get out of bed in the morning, but Virgin Hotels is looking to change that at its new Chicago hotel.
Virgin Hotels Chicago has partnered with locally based Bow Truss Coffee Roasters to offer what it bills as the first U.S. in-room coffee pour-over service. More widely available in Europe, the process promises guests a premium cup of coffee in short order. You can see how it works in this video:
“Part of the Virgin Hotels proposition is to incorporate the local landscape where possible, and when we were introduced to Bow Truss, it felt like the perfect match,” says Virgin Hotels Vice President of Food & Beverage Marlene Leslie. “Not only does Bow Truss source beans from small crops in Costa Rica, Mexico, Colombia and other countries known for coffee beans, but they roast on demand, so we knew we were getting the best product for our guests. Bow Truss is small enough so we could work together in great depth, but large enough to have resources in the world’s finest coffee regions.”
Virgin Hotels Chicago also serves Bow Truss Coffee in its three F&B outlets. Virgin and Bow Truss are working on a single-source signature coffee blend as well.
