A fair beyond furniture
So what key trends in furniture design will we be seeing in the near future? The themes that stood out to me were “nature,” roughness, knitted wool, vintage, baroque (though not as much as in previous years — thank heavens!) and lots of cozy decorative elements.

In showing a few of the trends, it is impossible to avoid including some kitschy wall paintings and heavily patterned textiles.

I also discovered the revival of the cactus — last seen in the 1970s …

… although I’m not sure if that last one is actually there to illustrate a design concept!
It was disappointing to see established companies such as Cassina continue to rely on their “Le Corbusier” collections and not take risks with new designs.
Softness and big, comfy structures are becoming trendier, so in general I would say that a more domestic, homey feeling is what we’ll be seeing in the future.
