A breath of fresh air
Recently I was in Berlin for the Hotel Investment Forum and ITB Convention. While roaming the city before registration began, I noticed something somewhat peculiar. Maybe I’m tainted by San Franciscans who complain about the weather if it drops above or below 60 degrees F (15 degrees C), but I noticed that the people in Berlin love the sun ? even in what felt like sub-zero temperatures. It was beautiful while I was visiting, with the temperatures reaching a balmy high of 36 degrees F (2 degrees C). However, it was much below 36 F in the morning, and still, look at all these folks enjoying the sun and their coffees al fresco!
Note the jackets (I mean parkas) in the second picture. Many of these kinds of places in Berlin supplied diners with blankets so they could enjoy their patios. If you think you can’t get people to sit outside on a cool day, you’re wrong. You just need to supply the parkas and lap blankets.
