Openings: Dan Caesarea | NH in Amsterdam

Dan Caesarea rises: The juxtaposition of new and ancient, contemporary and historic is balanced in the re-introduction of Dan Hotels’ Dan Caesarea, where the Pete Dye-designed golf course abuts ruins dating to when the area was the Roman capital of Judea. The 116-room resort, 35 miles north of Tel Aviv, was opened 60 years ago by Baron Edmond de Rothschild but has undergone a US$25 million renovation that transformed the lobby into a cocktail bar and, among other touches, put a pool table in the middle of one of its swimming pools. Contemporary Israeli art is shown throughout the hotel, whose guest rooms have a private hallway and an open yet private balcony structure. Rooms have walnut floors, unique art and marble bathrooms. Dan Hotels has 13 properties, including Jerusalem’s King David Hotel. Read more in the Times of Israel.

Radisson Residences in Istanbul: The new-build Radisson Residences Vadistanbul opened in early May. The property has 169 apartments – mostly one- and two-bedrooms, with two four-bedroom options – and is located next to the newly opened Radisson Blu Hotel, Vadistanbul. There’s also a gym, spa and swimming pool. They are both part of the Vadistanbul project, which has its own dedicated monorail system that connects to the city’s metro network, and which will include a shopping mall of 270 retail outlets and offices.

Blooming in Amsterdam: NH Hotel Group opened its fourth NH Collection hotel in Amsterdam – the NH Collection Amsterdam Flower Market – in mid-May. Formerly the NH Carlton Amsterdam, the property was closed for a six-month renovation. The 233-room hotel, located in the city center, was designed by Spanish interior and architecture studio TBC Interiorismo, which is also working on an NH property that will debut in Germany’s Bavaria region in August. The floral atmosphere of this hotel, next to the city’s famous flower market, “invades all public areas,” according to TBC, with large-scale floral prints and Dutch still-life paintings. The company recently signed an agreement for another property in Rome, NH Collection Fori Imperiali, the 13th hotel under the premium brand in Italy. The property’s restaurant, Ter Marsch, started as a pop-up restaurant collaboration in the old hotel.
