Briefs: The NY hotel sold for US$302 million

Aston comes to Malang: Indonesia-based hospitality management company Archipelago International will debut Aston City Malang Hotel in Malang, East Java, in 2021. Located in the heart of Malang’s business district on Jalan Ahmad Yani Utara, the hotel will feature 160 guest rooms, a collection of meeting and function rooms, a signature restaurant, and comprehensive facilities.

A US$302M sale: Host Hotels & Resorts has sold the Westin New York Grand Central hotel for US$302 million. The move comes as part of the company’s efforts to reduce exposure in New York. Host Hotels has disposed three assets, along with the retail, signage, and theater condo space situated at New York Marriott Marquis for US$1.1 billion.

Circa coming: Casino owners Derek and Greg Stevens are developing a new hotel-casino project in downtown Las Vegas. The brothers’ latest endeavor will be called Circa and be “host, entertainer and ringleader all in one” including home to the biggest sports book in Las Vegas. The 777-room resort will be the first brand-new resort built from the ground up in downtown since 1975 and joins other Stevens’ properties that include the Golden Gate and the D Las Vegas hotel-casinos. The new resort is expected to open in December 2020.

Pareto acquires Copenhagen Airport hotel: City Danmark A/S, a subsidiary of Pareto Securities entered into an agreement with Scandinavian developer Skanska to acquire a 357-room hotel being developed at Copenhagen Airport, for a reported price of circa €90 million (US$104 million). The transaction is due to complete in the first quarter of 2021 after the hotel has opened and the hotel will be operated by Scandic on a 20-year lease agreement. 

Meliá Hotels rebrand: Tryp Lima Miraflores has rebranded to Innside Lima Miraflores, joining the Innside by Meliá portfolio. The property has undergone renovations to update its facilities and attributions to the recently renewed standards. 

Avignon Capital buys in The Hague: London-based Avignon Capital acquired newly developed Staybridge Suites in The Hague, Netherlands, for €16.2 million (US$19 million). Opened in November, the hotel was sold by the developers, a joint-venture between Dutch group APF International and US group Ares Management. The 101-room extended stay property is located in the historic center of The Hague and is operated by Dutch hotel operator Borealis.
