Briefs: Jin Jiang seals Radisson | Forte crescendo

Jin Jiang completes Radisson acquisition: A consortium led by China’s Jin Jiang International Holdings announced that it has completed the acquisition of more than 50% of shares in Sweden’s Radisson Hospitality AB from Radisson Hospitality Inc. and HNA Sweden Hospitality Management AB, a subsidiary of China’s HNA Tourism Group. “This marks yet another incredible milestone in our company’s storied history and one that I’m confident will elevate Radisson Hotel Group to a new level of strength as a global leader in the hospitality industry,” John M. Kidd, Radisson Hospitality’s CEO and COO, said in a statement. “Jin Jiang’s loyalty program encompasses more than 100 million members. This type of size, coupled with the record number of Chinese consumers traveling abroad, provides a number of new opportunities for Radisson Hotel Group.”

Yotel in Portugal: Yotel announced plans to operate a new hotel in Porto, Portugal, opening in 2019. The 147-“cabin” hotel is the first of the brand in that country. The company says it is looking for more potential hotel sites in Iberian cities including Lisbon, Madrid and Barcelona.  

Rocco Forte expansion plans: Rocco Forte Hotels signed an agreement to acquire the Grand Hotel Villa Igiea in the Sicilian city of Palermo, Italy. It’s one of four luxury properties in Italy and one in Shanghai, China, that the company says are on track to open within the next two years, bringing the collection to 16 properties total.

NewcrestImage in management: Dallas-based NewcrestImage was awarded its first third-party management contract for the 163-room Holiday Express Inn & Suites at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport North. The hotel is undergoing a renovation that is expected to be complete in early 2019. The company’s portfolio includes 28 properties, with another 15 under construction or in development.
