This club offers a touch of home – Brazilian style

Grand Hyatt Saõ Paulo, Brazil, has had a highly popular Grand Club since the 466-key hotel opened in 2002 – the hotel is immediately next to Globus television headquarters and Nestlé Brazil, and many banks. In February, however, the club, on the 20th floor of the 23-story building, presented a new look, designed by Lilian Wexler, who is based in Saõ Paulo.

"This is my new office, Grand Hyatt Saõ Paulo General Manager Yann Gillet says of the new club level.

The space has been reconfigured to look more like a typical Brazilian home, with separate food and beverage areas. Seating is various heights, with raised communal tables with masses of USB and international power connections. The dedicated chef, who prepares a full breakfast buffet with hot dishes cooked to order, and, later, evening canapés, works alongside a team of nine concierge-servers. These agents wear outfits designed by a regular guest: dark navy pants are topped by white cotton camisoles until early evening, when they are replaced by dark navy tops.

Those staying in the 76 rooms and suites that have club access are so enthusiastic about the new concept that Elite World of Hyatt members’ willingness to return has soared by 20 points, and the average room rate for club access is 5% up on a year ago.

“It is a great success and has certainly made our guests even more loyal,” said hotel General Manager Yann Gillet. “I personally am so happy with the club that this is my new office and I meet all my clients here.”
