Briefs: A new Graduate | Trump emoluments decision soon?

Graduate Eugene: AJ Capital Partners has acquired the Hilton Eugene in Eugene, Oregon. The hotel will continue to operate as Hilton Eugene until year end, after which, it will begin a comprehensive renovation to convert to Graduate Eugene, part of the Graduate Hotels collection. The hotel will remain open during renovations and will be completed in summer 2019. The 12-story, 275-room hotel is in downtown Eugene and walking distance to University of Oregon’s campus. Starwood Property Trust will provide financing for the project.

Emoluments decision soon? Comments by a federal judge in U.S. District Court in Maryland could point to a ruling against President Donald Trump in the lawsuit alleging that Trump is profiting illegally from his hotel company. The judge said he would decide by the end of July whether to allow the lawsuit to proceed, according to the New York Times. In part of the same trial, CNN reported that a Trump administration attorney argued that the president should not be barred from renting rooms to foreign governments, even those that publicly say they are doing so in an attempt to seek the president’s favor; the president isn’t responsible for someone’s attempt to seek that favor.

Another Trump, profits reported: The Hill obtained financial disclosure firms outlining presidential daughter Ivanka Trump’s income: She made close to US$10 million in profit from her personal brand, US$3.9 million from her stake in the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., and roles in other Trump family entities in 2017, part of more than $80 million overall in outside income between her and her husband, fellow White House aide Jared Kushner.

Skyline takes over the Ginn Sur Mer: Toronto-based real estate investor/developer Skyline Investments will build a new 120-room hotel, add 75 marina slips and upgrade the airport and golf course within 24 months once it closes its acquisition of the former Ginn Sur Mer in Grand Bahama’s West End. Tribune Business sources have suggested its purchase is scheduled to close as early as Friday.
