Silva was previously a regional vice president at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, overseeing France, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal. Silva also was general manager of the acclaimed Hotel George V in Paris.

Silva replaces Stefan Leser, who spent only just over a year as Jumeirah CEO, leaving in July 2017 for “purely personal reasons.”

As chief executive officer of Jumeirah, Silva will be, among other things, responsible for its international expansion. Today, Jumeirah manages 19 properties around the world with 25 properties under development.

Abdulla Al Habbai, chairman of parent company Dubai Holding, said in a separate statement, “We are determined to continue developing Jumeirah into a globally recognized national champion, setting new industry benchmarks for world class service and quality.”

Silva added, “I have always admired Jumeirah for its ‘dare to be different’ culture and its forward-looking vision. I am honored to have been appointed and fully committed to leading the business and the brand into its next level of growth. Jumeirah is one of Dubai’s most iconic brands and a symbol of the Emirate.”
