Paris police have detained three suspects suspected of robbing over US$5 million from a jewelry store in the Hôtel Ritz Paris, according to reporting from the Irish news site RTÉ.
Police also recovered some of the jewels stolen during the armed raid, which was carried out Wednesday using axes, RTÉ further reported. Two suspected thieves are believed to still be on the run. There were no injuries.
According to CBS News, witness video shows what appear to be black-clad, axe-wielding intruders entering an unmarked side door of the property.
The hotel, where rooms start at €1,000 (US$1,195) per night, was operating as usual Thursday.
