People on the Move: Week of August 14, 2017

Hawaii-based Halekulani and Waikiki Parc hotels promoted Bonnie Bise from sales manager to public relations manager and appointed Robert Oneha to sales manager.

Hawaii’s Ka’anapali Beach Hotel named four new hires: Cheryl Black, marketing coordinator; Willow Longoria, sous chef; Gayle Miyaguchi, Hawaiian cultural resource adviser; and Gladys Sim-Avergonzado, catering sales manager.

Hyatt Regency Savannah named Amir Blattner general manager. Throughout his career, Blattner has held several rooms division roles in nine Hyatt hotels including director of rooms position at Hyatt Regency Dearborn, Grand Hyatt Washington, Hyatt Regency Chicago and Hyatt Regency Baltimore. Most recently, Blattner served as GM at the Hyatt Regency Louisville.

Bertrand Charles was named chef de cuisine of the RitzCoffier at the Palace Hotel, part of the Bürgenstock Hotels & Resort Lake Lucerne. Previously he was chef de cuisine at The Peninsula Manila’s French restaurant, Old Manila.

Sheraton Los Angeles San Gabriel Hotel, which will open this fall, appointed Carmen Choy-Surdam director of catering and conference services and Sunny Saha assistant general manager. Most recently, Choy-Surdam was also at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel Los Angeles, where she was responsible for developing new strategies to capture additional F&B revenues, among other responsibilities. Saha previously was director of food & beverage at Millennium Biltmore. 

The Enchantment Resort in Sedona, Arizona appointed Franck Desplechin executive chef. Prior to joining Enchantment, Desplechin most recently served as the executive chef at the St. Regis San Francisco.

Montage International made the following executive-level appointments: Julie De Witz to corporate director, restaurant operations; Victorio Gonzalez to hotel manager at Montage Los Cabos in Mexico, set to open in 2018; Shawn Jereb to corporate director, revenue management, a new position; Will Jones to hotel manager at Montage Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina; and Craig Thomas, to director of sales and marketing at Montage Deer Valley in Utah.

Deutsche Hospitality created a new position, director leisure sales international hotels, for its leisure sales division, and named Fotis Fakes to the role. Most recently, Fakes was responsible for the development of the hotel portfolio at DER Touristik and the DER brands’ marketing and sales in Greece. Also, Benjamin Richter is leading the leisure sales Central European Hotels division. He has been working for Deutsche Hospitality in sales since last year.

Oakwood Hotel & Apartments Brisbane appointed Luke Farrow executive chef. Farrow has previously worked for large chains such as Choice Hotels, Marriott, Eardi Group, Perisher Blue and specialized in corporate catering and large functions.

The Westin St. Francis in San Francisco named Jeana Fink its new director of group sales. She most recently served as director of sales, large group and catering for the Western Mountain-Pacific Region. 

Virginia’s Lansdowne Resort and Spa made a number of appointments: Daniel Flanigan, maintenance director; Jake Hatch, national sales manager; Emily Hutton, meeting specialist and coordinator; Amanda Kelleher, wedding concierge; Martin Martinez, food and beverage manager; Thomas Pierri, resort manager; Dana Prytula, assistant director of events; Uwe Roehricht, director of food and beverage; Bonnie Viteri, people service specialist; Lauren Worcester, conference planning manager; Becca Yang, social media and PR coordinator; and Miki Zhou, international sales associate and executive assistant.

The Marquette Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton hired Claudette Guillermo as director of catering. Her primary responsibility will be event coordination for the hotel’s Windows on Minnesota space on its 50th floor.

Regent Hotels Group named Mark Keith managing director. Keith had been the group’s adviser on human capital management and focused on strategic senior leadership development. Most recently, he was managing director at HVS, where he oversaw consulting projects and assignments throughout Asia Pacific.

Mosaic Hotel Group appointed Christine Kenny-Morairty corporate marketing director. Kenny-Morairty joins Mosaic Hotel Group from W Bali, the flagship property of W Hotels-Asia Pacific.

The Don CeSar in St. Pete Beach, Florida, named Michael Molloy executive chef. This is his second stint at the Don CeSar; he previously served as executive chef of the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Carolyn Pope was appointed associate director of sales of Rosewood Little Dix Bay, a Caribbean resort set to reopen in December following renovation. Before joining Rosewood Little Dix Bay, Pope was marketing manager of the Americas for Visit Victoria (Australia).

Hotel Equities named Marcie Pruitt corporate controller. Previously, she was an accounting supervisor at M3 Professional Services.

Mark Sainsbury was named executive chef at the Hyatt Regency London. Sainsbury built his culinary career in London before migrating to Australia and working within Hyatt for the last 25 years.

Lodge on the Desert in Tucson, Arizona named David Solorzano executive chef. His career before taking the helm at Cielos included positions such as chef de cuisine at Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch, and cook at Miraval Resort and Vin Tabla.

The Florida-based Plantation on Crystal River named Jack Spiess executive chef of the 196-room resort. Prior to the Plantation, Speiss worked as executive chef of Le Pichet in Seattle’s Pike Place Market.

Aman appointed Dr. Alison Stone director of spa and wellness at Amanpuri, the collection’s beach resort in Phuket.

The Dylan Amsterdam named Robbert Van Rijsbergen director of sales and marketing.  He joined from Virtuoso, where he was business development manager Latin America and Caribbean.

The Marriott Marquis Chicago made two appointments: Cindy Ruchman to director of sales and marketing, previously general manager of the Northern Mid America sales office; and Michael Tiseo, director of events management, previously director of events management at the Marriott Marquis New York.

Corinthia Hotel London’s Northall restaurant named Ewan Simpson executive chef. Most recently, he was executive head chef at Rowhill Grange Hotel.

The Highland Dallas appointed Jared Williams general manager. Williams joins the hotel following three years as general manager of Magnolia Hotel in Dallas.

Sunrise Springs Spa Resort in Santa Fe, New Mexico, named Maggie Wagner director of spa and retail. Most recently, she was spa director at Stein Eriksen Lodge.

Kimpton Solamar in San Diego promoted MarQuies Willis to associate director of sales. Most recently, he was sales manager, and he began working with Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants in 2006 in the Washington, D.C., area.

Millennium Hotels & Resorts appointed Howard Wu president of North America and chief technology and solutions officer. Previously, Wu was an independent non-executive director at the company. He has held held senior positions with technology companies in North America and Europe.

Margaret Yeung was appointed vice president of brand management and communications for Rosewood Hotel Group international hotel management company. Most recently, she was partner and director of Kalli Strategic Consulting.
