Briefs: On Airbnb’s case | Pod ‘pads’

Ex-cop tracks Airbnb: The Hotel Association of New York City hired a former police officer to seek out illegal rentals in the city on Airbnb. His company will be working undercover for the group, which recently made waves when it ran a controversial TV ad aimed at Airbnb.

Hard Rock in Davos: Hard Rock International announced plans to open Hard Rock Hotel Davos, its first Swiss ski resort, in December. The company, partnering with Hospitality Service AG, will take over the Spenglers Hotel Davos, adding a spa.

 


Bigger than a breadbox: The Pod Hotels will open Pod Times Square in New York City this fall. The BD Hotels-owned property will offer 45 Pod “pads” – suites of up to 800 square feet – for extended stays. As well, 665 smaller pod-type rooms will be available.

 


Crescent in Edmonton: Crescent Hotels & Resorts will manage three boutique hotels in downtown Edmonton, Canada: the 184-room Matrix, the 98-room Metterra and the 89-room Varscona hotels.
