Briefs: ‘Dirty’ redux? | Dalata in Birmingham

New moves for Catskills resort: The owner of the long-closed New York resort that inspired the movie “Dirty Dancing” has applied for state funds to clean up the contaminated site, the first step toward putting a hotel back in the Catskills. Grossinger’s Catskill Resort Hotel was first opened in the 1910s.

Dalata leaseback: Ireland’s Dalata Hotel Group made a sale and leaseback deal with Deka Immobilien Investment for the Hotel La Tour in Birmingham for £30 million (US$40.0 million). Dalata will operate the hotel for a 35-year term.

 


Hotel guests targeted: A security firm says that a group suspected to have ties to Russian military intelligence was behind a campaign targeting hotel guests’ password credentials. According to Reuters, the APT 28 group aimed to steal the credentials to then infect the travelers’ organizations back home. The attacks were made in July at hotels in Europe and the Middle East.
