Wyndham Hotel Group acquires AmericInn

Further cementing its focus on midscale, Wyndham Hotel Group will acquire the Minnesota-based AmericInn brand as well as its management company, Three Rivers Hospitality.

The deal, a US$170 million form which Northcott Hospitality, will significantly increase Wyndham’s Midwestern footprint, as well as upping the company’s brands to 20.

To date, AmericInn’s portfolio consists of 200 primarily franchised hotels with approximately 11,600 rooms in 21 states, predominately in the Midwestern U.S., Ohio Valley, and Mountain states including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, and North Dakota. The brand’s U.S. pipeline consists of 23 hotels.

Wyndham will also explore options to divest the owned portfolio, which consists of 10 hotels.

The company, which just launched its upper-midscale brand Trademark Hotel Collection in June, also made moves toward Latin America last year with the acquisition of Fen Hotels, Dazzler Hotels and Esplendor Boutique lifestyle brands.
