The Fairmont Quasar Istanbul has opened, marking the first hotel for Fairmont in Turkey and the fifth property of parent company AccorHotel’s luxury brand portfolio within Istanbul.
Set on the site of the 1930s Robert Mallet Stevens’ designed Art Deco liquor factory, Fairmont Quasar blends a sense of urban culture and industrial flair with the city’s storied traditions and a strong sense of place.
Each guestroom in the 209-room hotel has a wide panoramic view overlooking either the Bosphorus or the city skyline. Rooms have industrial touches with lots of natural light.
Design comes from Dallas-based architecture and interior design firm Wilson Associates. Blue leather-tufted headboards; minibars inspired by vintage travel trunks, leather-bound and studded; and in suite showers resembling traditional Turkish hammams. There’s also a Royal Suite and 40 Fairmont Gold rooms.
Restaurants include: Aila, a Turkish-style “ocakbasi” grill and live mezze kitchen with a spice library and bar; Stations, casual dining; Demlique, a café with dark-wood herringbone floor and distinctive geometric ceiling with a focus on the Turkish tradition of tea and coffee with sweet pastries and freshly baked bread; The Marble Bar, cocktails; and Ukiyo, Asian-inspired cuisine.
The hotel also has the Willow Stream Spa, which has nine treatment rooms, traditional hammam, an indoor pool, yoga room and gym.
