News in brief: Crescent, Crown, IHG

Crescent: Crescent Hotels & Resorts will manage the newly opened six-story, 125-room Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Mississauga/West.

 


Crown: As of May 9, Crown Resorts no longer holds an interest in Melco Resorts & Entertainment, following the completion of Melco’s repurchase of Crown’s remaining interest in the company.

 


Holiday Inn Express Australia: IHG will open its second Melbourne based Holiday Inn Express in 2020. The select service hotel will add 299 rooms to Melbourne’s boutique Little Collins Street. 

 


Barceló Hotel Group: Barceló Hotel Group will further expand into Mexico City (where the chain already has 21 establishments) with its pending acquisition of the Avenida Reforma, a 5-star, 500-room hotel in the city.


Accor, Groupe Noctis: AccorHotels and the FCDE (Fonds de Consolidation et de Développement des Entreprises) are in exclusive talks about acquiring 100% of the latter’s minority interest in Groupe Noctis, in which FCDE invested €11 million (US$12 million) in over 2013 and 2014. Over the past four years, it has grown revenues by 250%.

 


Potawatomi Hotel & Casino: The Wisconsin-based Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, owned and operated by the Forest County Potawatomi Community, will expand the hotel at its Milwaukee property with the construction of a second tower. Construction will begin later this year pending application approval by the city of Milwaukee.
