Hot Openings: Hotel Indigo comes to downtown L.A.

IHG and China’s Greenland USA opened the Hotel Indigo in downtown Los Angeles, the first of the brand in that city.

The 350-room, 18-story Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown opened in April in the Metropolis development. It’s the first hotel developed by Greenland USA, a subsidiary of Shanghai-based Greenland Group.

Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) created the design concept, which is inspired by the speakeasies of 1920s Prohibition era, the Fiesta de las Flores parade, the budding Hollywood movie industry and historic Chinatown.

The new-build hotel is walking distance to the L.A. Live entertainment district, Staples Center and Los Angeles Convention Center. Dining options include the lobby-level Metropole Bar+Kitchen, inspired by the tunnels beneath downtown Los Angeles, and 18 Social, a speakeasy-style lounge. The outdoor pool terrace on the fourth floor offers views of Los Angeles and a bar.
