Proper Hospitality, a California-based high-end lifestyle hospitality company, has appointed industry veteran Arash Azarbarzin as president and chief operating officer. Azarbarzin was a founding member of SBE Hotel Group, where he served as president for the past 12 years.

Matt Bauchle was appointed front office manager at the Kansas City Marriott Country Club Plaza Hotel in Missouri.

Orlando World Center Marriott appointed Joshua Cain as executive pastry chef. He joins the hotel most recently from The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, where he held the complex pastry chef position since 2014.

Mexico-based Viceroy Riviera Maya appointed Aristides Carrillo to manager of the resort’s spa. Previously, he was assistant director of Willow Stream Spa at Fairmont Mayakoba.

Switzerland’s Carlton Hotel St. Moritz appointed Philippe D. Clarinval as general manager. Clarinval, originally from Central Switzerland, succeeds Laurence and Dominic Bachofen, who are leaving the company to pursue a non-corporate project.

Texas-based Omni Frisco Hotel made a number of appointments: Lexy Coley as director of operations; Ken Woods as director of finance, Gayla Guyse as director of sales & marketing; Justin McNeely as director of engineering; Dave Ricci as director of human resources; and Michael Salerno as general manager for neighborhood services.

Oliver Constant was appointed guest experience manager at Naka Island, a Luxury Collection Resort Resort and Spa in Phuket. He previously served as events management at the Anantara Siam, Bangkok.

Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown appointed Tara Cruz as director of spa. Before joining the hotel, Tara was most recently director of spa at the Cornelia Spa, located within the Surrey Hotel on New York’s Upper East Side.

NewcrestImage has named Taylor Jacobs to the newly created position of director of acquisitions and development. Jacobs previously held positions with RLJ Lodging Trust, where he supported the acquisitions and portfolio analysis team, and with Accenture, where his specialty was digital products.

OLS Hotels & Resorts promoted Joy La Rosa to director of catering and convention Services at California’s Airtel Plaza Hotel & Conference Center. The company also appointed Jordana O’Malley to catering sales manager at the same hotel. 

Virgin Hotels hired Ana Lanzas as director of communications and social media. She will be based in Miami. Most recently, she was director of public relations and social media at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach.

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has promoted Eric de Neef as the executive vice president, global chief branding & commercial officer to lead the branding and commercial organization for the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group globally.

Andaz San Diego announces Shane Nicolopoulos as general manager of the Gaslamp Quarter neighborhood hotel. Nicolopoulos previously spent two years at San Diego’s Manchester Grand Hyatt as assistant executive of housekeeping and assistant front office manager.

Frits van Paasschen was appointed to CitizenM’s advisory board. Van Paasschen previously worked with Starwood Hotels and Coor Brewing Company, as well as holding several managerial roles with the Nike, where he ultimately became president of Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Andreas Pade was appointed managing director of the British Virgin Islands’ Rosewood Little Dix Bay, which is scheduled to reopen in December following a renovation. Most recently, Pade served as the resort’s manager.

137 Pillars Hotels & Resorts appointed Bjorn Richardson as general manager of the newly opened 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok. Prior to joining the hotel, Richardson acted as general manager of Oakwood Residence Bangkok.

Greydon House in Nantucket, Massachusetts appointed Ari Sadri to general manager. Sadri comes to Greydon House from The Pitcher Inn in Warren, Vermont, where he served as general manger.

Red Roof has promoted Regional Vice President of Operations Neil Scott to vice president of sales and operations, a dedicated position focused on accelerating the company’s expansion into Canada.

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida-based Plunge Beach Hotel appointed Will Silbernagel as the resort’s food & beverage director.

SBE named Sebastien Silvestri as senior vice president, food & beverage, hotel division. Prior to this, Silvestri was vice president of food & beverage at The Venetian and The Palazzo Casino Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas.

Broughton Hotels promoted Timothy Smith to vice president of operations and development. Prior to joining Broughton Hotels in 2015, Smith served as regional director of operations for Premier Hospitality. 

Tom Sprankle was promoted to regional vice president of operations for Stonebridge Companies in Denver, Colorado. Most recently, Sprankle was the dual general manager for both the Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites Denver Downtown Convention Center hotels.

Doug Stringer was appointed head chef of The Immigrant Restaurant at The American Club resort-hotel in Kohler, Wisconsin. Prior to joining Kohler, Stringer served as sous chef at The Grandview Restaurant & Lounge at the Geneva Inn in Geneva, Wisconsin.

Juan R. Vicioso Jr. was named director of sales & marketing for The Heldrich, a Benchmark Resorts & Hotels property located in New Brunswick, New Jersey. For the past 12 years he’s been a sales leader with Starwood Hotels and Resorts, concentrating on the New York City market.

Matthew Whiteheart was promoted to rooms director at Cary, North Carolina-based Umstead Hotel & Spa.

The supervisory board of Steigenberger Hotels AG appointed Thomas Willms to its management board. In his new role as chief operating officer, Willms will be responsible for operations, sales and marketing of the Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts, Jaz in the City and IntercityHotel brands.
