Rotana in Dubai, Muscat: Abu Dhabi-based Rotana plans to open four new properties by 2020, with a total value of US$300 million. Two, the Pearl Rotana and the Saadiyat Rotana Resort & Villas, will open this year. The Beach Arjaan by Rotana will open in 2018, and the Marina Mall Arjaan by Rotana will open in 2020. Separately, Rotana and Golden Group Holding signed an agreement to manage a new 250-room hotel project in Muscat, Oman.

Bookings bump in Dubai: A change in visa policies for Chinese and Russian visitors to Dubai prompted a record 86.3% occupancy in the emirate for the first three months of the year. Tourists from those two countries can be granted visas on arrival.

Airbnb sues Miami: The home-sharing network sued the city of Miami on Friday, claiming that the city, among other charges, is violating the First Amendment rights of Airbnb hosts who spoke at a city commission meeting. After reaffirming an ordinance making home-sharing mostly illegal, the city tracked down the hosts.

IHG breach: IHG reported a malware-related data security breach affected credit cards used at some IHG-branded hotels between late September and December of last year.

Taj in Mumbai: The Taj Hotels group and realty company Godrej Properties will develop a luxury Taj-brand hotel, The Trees, at Vikhroli in Mumbai. No opening date was given for the 150-room hotel, on a mixed-use property.
