News in brief: Olympia, HNA, Crescent

Maine boutique: The Olympia Companies will develop and manage a 42-room boutique hotel on the campus of Colby College in Waterville, Maine. The hotel is owned by Elm City LLC, Colby’s development arm. Ground will be broken this year.

 


HNA, Hong Kong Polytechnic in partnership: The School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and HNA Hospitality Group will collaborate on a program of internships and executive training for HNA associates.

 


Fairmont Newport Beach buyer: The buyer for the recently sold Fairmont Newport Beach has been named: Crescents Hotels & Resorts will rename the property the Duke Hotel Newport Beach and give it a multimillion-dollar renovation. It will operate as a Marriott hotel effective in March. Early next year, it will be rebranded as the Renaissance Newport Beach.

Meliá in Vietnam: Meliá Hotels International entered an agreement with Saigon-Cam Ranh Joint Stock Company to launch the 300-room Meliá Cam Ranh Bay in 2018.
