London leads U.K. transactions: Investment into the London hotel market accounted for just over 50%, up from 45.2%, of all hotel transactions in 2016, according to international real estate adviser Savills. Volumes in London reached £2 billion (US$2.45 billion), due partly to big deals like the £350 million (US$432.0 million) acquisition of the former War Office by the Hinduja Group and Obrascon Huarte Lain and the £300 million (US$370.2 million) purchase of the Hilton Double Tree Tower of London by Gulshan Bhatia.

 


Trump, Part I: Wood workers, electricians and a plumbing and heating business say they are still waiting to be paid for work they did on Donald Trump’s new Washington, D.C., hotel. They filed liens against the hotel seeking more than US$5 million in payment.

Trump, Part II: Donald Trump gave a videotaped deposition stemming from a lawsuit he filed after chef José Andrés backed out of plans to open a restaurant at the Washington, D.C. hotel. A Trump lawyer called the deposition routine and said it lasted an hour. Andrés canceled plans for a restaurant after Trump made inflammatory comments about Mexicans during the presidential campaign.

 


New manager for Hyde Resort: Greenbelt, Maryland-based Chesapeake Hospitality will manage the new Hyde Resort & Residences in Hollywood, Florida. The 367-key property, designed by Brazilian architect Debora Aguiar, is expected to be completed later this month.

 


AmericInn in Minnesota: AmericInn signed a new property in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. It will undergo a renovation.
