Hot Openings: SLS Brickell joins Miami skyline

Los Angeles-based hospitality company SBE opened its second SLS hotel in Miami, the SLS Brickell, in mid-November.

The 55-story property in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood, a hotel and residence project, was done in partnership with Related Group, Arquitectonica and designer Philippe Starck.

SBE founder and CEO Sam Nazarian described the property at epitomizing what the company stands for: “an uncompromising, yet modern approach to luxury, infused with playfulness, spirit, creativity and world-class cuisine and design.”

The Arquitectonica-designed tower employs a faceted bas relief pattern. The project encompasses 124 Starck-appointed SLS hotel rooms and suites and 450 SLS- branded condo residences. The public spaces feature art including a Markus Linnenbrink mural and a lobby sculpture by Bernardi Roig.

The property features culinary options from two James Beard Award-winning chefs: SLS Culinary Director, Chef José Andrés and Chef Michael Schwartz. Schwartz will launch his first Italian concept with Fi’lia, featuring fresh ingredients from the hearth and the simplicity of handmade artisanal breads and pasta. Andrés’ Bazaar Mar celebrates the bounty of the oceans, with a seasonal emphasis on Miami and the Caribbean. Andrés will also oversee food and beverage for the property’s in-room dining, mezzanine and pool bar. The Sky Roof features a pool with city views and cuisine by Andrés.
