Hilton earnings: Hilton Worldwide released its Q3 2016 earnings, reporting adjusted EBITDA was US$765 million and a system-wide comparable RevPAR increase of 1.3%. Additionally, net unit growth was 13,100 rooms in the third quarter, representing a 7% growth in managed and franchised rooms from 2015.

IHG signs in Sydney, Malaysia: IHG and St Marys Rugby League Club have signed a franchise agreement for a 123-room, new build Holiday Inn hotel in Sydney, Australia. The Holiday Inn Sydney St Marys is scheduled to open in late 2017. IHG also signed a management agreement with Exopuri Development Sdn Bhd to develop a new 288-room Holiday Inn & Suites in Penang, Malaysia. Holiday Inn & Suites Penang Prai is scheduled to open in about four years. 

 


Davidson grows in Atlanta: Davidson Hotels & Resorts added the 304-room Renaissance Atlanta Midtown Hotel to its management portfolio.

Hotel planned at Dublin airport: A new hotel is planned for Dublin’s airport in Ireland. Work on the 11-story terminal-linked building will begin next October and will have 402 rooms, making it Ireland’s fourth largest hotel.

Stella Cnaris Resort acquired: Meeting Point International acquired the Stella Cnaris Resort in Spain. A €60 million (US$65.43 million) renovation is planned for the resort and is scheduled to be completed by July 2017.

Goldman Sachs takes over Travelodge franchise in Ireland: Halstonville, through its wholly owned subsidiary Mollydale Limited, is acquiring five subsidiaries of Smorgs and the assets of another two Travelodge hotels. Halstonville is a firm that is jointly controlled by Goldman Sachs Group.
