Hot Openings: Historic elegance, modern amenities in Syracuse

Formerly the Hotel Syracuse in New York, the Marriott Syracuse Downtown recently opened its doors following a two-year, US$76 million restoration. Managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts, every facet of the 261-room hotel was restored or rebuilt to maintain its history while also providing guests with modern amenities.

The grand lobby features terrazzo floors and 20-foot columns as well as a restored 1940s mural behind the front desk and refurbished chandeliers from 1924. All of the hotel’s guestrooms and suites have been renovated and refurnished.

On-site food and beverages options were inspired by partnerships with local teams from Syracuse. Restaurants include Eleven Waters, a Finger Lakes Style bistro serving breakfast, lunch and dinner; and the Cavalier Room, serving cocktails and small plates during lunch and dinner. Shaughnessy’s Irish Pub and the Legacy Steakhouse will open later this year.

The hotel’s ballrooms have been restored, with the Persian Terrace and Grand Ballroom reflecting its original historic grandeur, and the former Imperial Ballroom, now Finger Lakes Ballroom, was updated with modern technological amenities that aim to provide “one of the most technologically advanced meeting spaces in the region.”

Other new hotel amenities include a new fitness center, business centers and high-speed internet access.
